Xicana Ph.D. is a place for the defiant and unapologetic.
Writing without
permission or peer review.
This is a site with reflections, notes, testimonios and information about education, ethnic studies, feminism, working class struggles, navigating higher education, teaching and more. I was once a community college student who was kicked out of school on academic probation and dismissal and eventually finished my Ph.D. in 2015 while a single mother.  I have spoken at over 50 colleges/universities and conferences sharing poetry, writing workshops, empowerment workshops, sharing insight on panel discussions and as a keynote speaker. I continue to dedicate myself to social justice as an educator of Ethnic Studies in the K-12 system and as a Humanities/Education faculty member at Bard College-Los Angeles.

My writings from Xicana Ph.D. has been featured in other publications/sites including: Inside Higher Education, The American Federation of Teachers, NASPA, Latino Rebels, and I am Bold Latina. I have a chapter forthcoming in the book Latina Outsiders from Routledge Press. In additon, my poetry and other writings have been featured on/in KPCC/89.3, Huffington Post, Zocalo A Public Square and more.

I am a long time activist, educator, and leader in my community.

If you are interested in having me present or speak at your college/university/school or organization, please contact me! I also provided editing/coaching for dissertation writers.
